St. Jacinta Marto Catholic Elementary School to celebrate Solemn Blessing
On Wednesday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m., St. Jacinta Marto Catholic Elementary School in Brampton will celebrate its solemn school blessing. The blessing will be presided by Rev. Jan Kolodynski.
A school blessing is a milestone event in the life of a new Catholic school, and normally takes place within one year of the opening of the school. Blessings are highly ceremonial occasions with a strong community focus, and are attended by students, parents, clergy, school staff, board officials, school trustees and other elected officials.
"This solemn event will celebrate the establishment of St. Jacinta Marto Catholic Elementary School and its faith community," said Avril Metivier, principal of St. Jacinta Marto Catholic Elementary School. "Staff, students and parents have contributed to its preparation, including the liturgy, choir and media presentations. The community is invited to celebrate this occasion with us."
St. Jacinta Marto Catholic Elementary School, located at 40 Fallowfield Road in Brampton, opened on September 4, 2018. It is home to 316 students ranging from JK to Grade 8.
