Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board to hold Information Sessions for 2020-2021 French Immersion Program

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) will hold a series of public information meetings in Mississauga and Brampton for parents and guardians interested in enrolling their children in the DPCDSB's French Immersion Program for the 2020-2021 school year.

The information sessions will provide parents and guardians with the following:

  • an overview of our French Immersion Program,
  • the criteria for admittance
  • information about the online application process
  • information about the random selection process (should the number of applications exceed the number of spaces available)

The DPCDSB offers the French Immersion Program starting in Grade 1 at eight school sites. Students registered in this program will spend 90% of their day learning in the French language. All subjects and activities in the French Immersion classroom, except for Religion and Family Life, will be delivered in French. In Grades 2 and 3, 70% of the instruction will be in French, with the proportion of English increasing to 50% in later years. By the end of Grade 8, students will have received at least 4,510 hours of French instruction and will be able to participate adequately in conversation and have developed inter-cultural awareness of French-speaking communities.

Information sessions will be held at three different French Immersion locations:
