May 25 & June 1 - Mindfulness Matters: Virtual Mental Health Conference for Grade 8 students
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School’s Mindfulness Matters Triple A Team is hosting its second annual virtual Mental Health and Wellness Conference for Grade 8 students in its feeder schools (St. Evan, St. Rita, St. Andrew, St. Peter, St. Benedict, Holy Family and St. Cornelius). We are pleased to offer this transition event to promote Awareness, Advocacy and Action for positive Mental Health and Wellness on the mornings of May 25 and June 1, 2022. A team comprised of senior leadership students, teachers and support staff will lead and engage students virtually in a fun, informative and interactive morning of icebreakers, games, presentations, and workshops. It is our goal to ease the transition from elementary to secondary school while Grade 8 students cultivate relationships with their senior peer counterparts. The goal of the Triple A Team is to develop and foster a safe, caring, and inclusive community amongst students through mental health awareness and education, advocacy, and action. Our trained, student-led group will build capacity in mental health by increasing awareness, dispelling myths about mental health, linking students to resources and teaching healthy ways of dealing with their emotions. The Church’s ministry is twofold, the media can be used to help promote the Gospel. At the same time, as receivers of the materials presented by the media, the faithful have a duty to support and promote worthwhile presentations on media and reject those which promote values contrary to spiritual growth.
