What is Specialist High Skills Major?
A ministry funded program which invests in our students by enhancing their skills and experiences
All certifications and experiential learning trips are paid for by the ministry
The SHSM program provides rich experiences for our students
Several colleges and universities provide incentives and scholarship opportunities for graduating SHSM students
SHSM college and university applicants to OCAS and OUAC are identified by a check box in their application
Adds exemplary lists of credentials to students' resumes
Sets students up to be successful in post-secondary education programs and future careers
What courses do I need to take in the SHSM program? SHSM is suitable for all post-secondary pathways: College, University, Workplace, and Apprenticeship

How do I apply? Please indicate your interest in My Blueprint, complete the SHSM and Co-op Applications, and submit them to your Guidance Counsellor

SHSM is a ministry approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning within a specific sector while meeting the requirements to graduate from secondary school. It also assists students' transition after graduation to all destination pathways of apprenticeship training, the workplace, college, or university.
The St. F. X. S. S. Co-op Department maintains a wide variety of rich Co-op placements with several valued community partners - Co-op via selecting Learning, Departments, Cooperative Education**
