All SHSMs require six or seven sector-recognized certifications that have been identified through extensive sector consultations. 
They include:

• three or four compulsory certifications or training courses/programs (e.g., first aid, CPR , OSP and WHMIS);
• the remaining certifications include sewing, audio visual set-up, and theatre make-up application.
