getting-involved

We believe that parental involvement is essential for children to succeed in school, and we encourage all parents/guardians to become participants in their child’s educational journey. Parents/guardians are an integral part of our Catholic school communities. Parent engagement, advocacy and support for Catholic schools gives you a voice, and signals that support for Catholic education in Dufferin-Peel and Ontario is strong. We appreciate the involvement of parents/guardians at the local school and encourage participation in school activities and events. Consider becoming involved in your school’s Catholic school council.

A Message from the Chair of the Central Committee for Catholic School Councils (CCCSC)

Hello and welcome!  My name is Pamela Olivieri and I am honoured and privileged to assume the role of CCCSC - Central Committee for Catholic School Councils chair this year. I am deeply grateful to my predecessor, Genevieve Rodney, for her excellence in leadership and outstanding contributions to CCCSC during her time as chair.  I am also extremely grateful that in my new endeavor as Chair, she will remain in the capacity of vice chair.

What started out for me years ago, only as a parent with a desire to know what was going on in my child's school has developed into a passion and love for volunteering and advocating for Catholic Education. I am inspired by the commitment and achievements made through the Central Council for Catholic School within Dufferin-Peel.  I am humbled to be part of such a dedicated team of parents, administrators, and volunteers throughout our Catholic schools.

Over the past 20 years, the primary goal of CCCSC is to encourage, foster and promote parent involvement within our Catholic schools. I am proud of the continuous work and dedication of our council members and the many parent volunteers involved in all different levels of support throughout our Catholic elementary and secondary schools.

Through important collaboration with our schools, churches and home lives, the Board and the Ministry, we hope to continue successfully creating a strong and faith based relationship for our students, schools, and communities to grow closer together in this constantly changing world.

I encourage all parents to take a moment to get to know your school by helping out or by seeking out how you can contribute to your child's school, with whatever amount of time you have to offer – large or small. It is important.  Your volunteerism will help build a solid foundation and stronger bonds for our students and our schools.

CCCSC will continue to ensure that Catholic School Councils (CSC) are supported within our schools. In turn, our CSC can better understand how we can support and promote higher student achievement within our schools.

I look forward to the important work that lies ahead and thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

In closing, I ask all parents, guardians, volunteers, administrators, and educators, to reflect on our shared responsibilites to our students and schools, to ensure we continue in "Renewing the Promise" to ensure success in Catholic Education in Dufferin-Peel.

Sincerely,

Pamela Olivieri
Chair, CCCSC
