Learning and Growing Together with God
Many students and staff at St. Sofia School have directly been affected by the war and as part of their healing, a “Prayer Wall” was created. Schools across DPCDSB have sent pictures, letters and posters of love and support.
Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School’s students were excited to join the school’s first Baking Club, and to bake in-person after a long period of extra-curricular restrictions. Students come together once a month to meet, prep, bake and clean up.
John Cabot C.S.S. participated in a Lenten sacrifice called the Cabot Cares Lenten Campaign. Items such as soap, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and other personal hygiene products were generously donated.
St. Sofia School hosted Most Reverend Bishop Bryan Bayda from the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada as well as Saskatoon. Students sang beautiful songs of faith and had an opportunity to learn about Bishop Bayda’s personal life.
On March 25, DPCDSB observed a day dedicated to World Peace to demonstrate a united vision of faith, love, and hope for all the people that have been affected by war. The day included a liturgy, followed by the raising of the Ukrainian flag at the CEC.
Robert F. Hall C.S.S. held a Coat & Hoodie Drive benefiting the Out of the Cold Program and Dr. Simone’s Canadian Food for Children.
At St. Elizabeth Seton School, students and staff worked together to highlight the importance of Black History Month through bulletin boards, read alouds, announcements, reflections, and presentations.
