Important Message for Parents and Guardians
Text Messaging for Student Absence and School Broadcast Messages
Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School is launching a new service that will allow us to deliver text messages to your cell phone for:
- student absences
- important school events
- school closings
- safety alerts
Text invitation was sent on Wednesday February 21, 2018
On Wednesday February 21, 2018, if our school had a cell phone # for you on file, you should have received the following text from 978338 requesting that you opt-in to receive student absence and school related text messages:
“POCOCK messages. Reply Y to confirm. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.”
When you reply Y to this text, you will begin to receive text messages if your child has an unexplained absence as well as important school related messages.
If the school does not have your cell phone # please contact our Guidance Secretary, Mrs. Metallo, at 905-602-6172 option # 3. She will require your child’s name & grade, your name and your new cell phone number.
Confirmation that your “opt-in” text was successful
If your text to 978338 was successful, you’ll receive a confirmation text from SchoolMessenger.
Do you have multiple cell phones?
Please contact our Guidance Secretary, Mrs. Metallo, at 905-602-6172 option # 3. She will require your child’s name & grade, your name and your additional cell phone number.
How to “opt-out” of our text messaging service
To stop receiving text messages from our school, text STOP to 978338
Although the school does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
