Free IB Boot Camp July 6-10

UCC will be offering a one-week IB boot camp for students who have just completed year one of the IB DP Program (students going into grade 12 in September 2020). PLease read below for more details.

In light of our recent crisis and the interruptions to learning experienced by students, Upper Canada College is offering a free one-week IB Boot Camp from July 6 to 10 for any interested IB DP students who have just completed the first year of the DP. There will be a range of courses to choose from as well as scheduled in-class sessions held either in the morning or in the afternoon. Students may sign up for one or two courses. The focus of the Boot Camp is preparation for external assessments. Classes will be staffed by experienced UCC IB faculty who will teach each class live so students can ask questions as the lesson proceeds. Students who choose to enroll in this class can expect some asynchronous work to help them practice their skills and prepare for the class the next day. Students will require wifi access and attend their classes with either an IPad or a computer to access the Zoom class. There will be no formal assessment in these courses.

Please register by Tuesday, June 30 by 5 pm. Classes will be limited to 30 students. See registration links at the end of this page.. A free 1-week subscription to the Kognity online textbook will be provided to all students who are registered in Math AI or AA, Physics, Chemistry, or TOK.

We’ll target areas that students often find difficult, and we’ll look at a variety of Paper 1 and Paper 2 questions.

Theatre SL

In this course, we will prepare a first full draft of one of the SL EAs, either The Director’s Notebook or The Research Presentation (dependant upon the work undertaken by the students previously).

A member of our faculty, Ms. Gillian Levene, will serve as student liaison for the duration of the summer programme. She will be a point of contact for any questions you may have prior to the start of the session, or to discuss any issues that arise throughout your learning experience. Ms. Levene will send out a survey upon registration to gather feedback that will help each subject teacher shape and implement their courses, and follow-up at the end of the IB Boot Camp for your input. Please do not hesitate to reach out to her at glevene@ucc.on.ca.
