Helping Youth Toward a Brighter Future
Congratulations to Luz del Rosario, who was re-elected chair of the DPCDSB at the annual Organizational Meeting on November 21 and Thomas Thomas, who was re-elected vice-chair.
On October 30, St. Hilary Catholic Elementary School participated in a Community Clean Up. Ecosource provided bags, disposable gloves and litter pickers to lead the clean-up.
St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School’s Walk & Roll to School Campaign was a hit! Students, families and teachers walked, scooted and cycled into school.
Students at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School came together in solidarity in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Week with guest speakers, class presentations and activities during lunch.
During September, St. Joseph Catholic Secondary School organized a Food Drive Challenge to donate nonperishable food items to help support the work done by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Advantage Brampton students enrolled in the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Contemporary Voices course got to learn first-hand on how to make hair pipe bracelets from Naomi Smith, a First Nations artist, curator, and educator.
On September 22, St. Barbara Catholic Elementary School participated in the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope raising a total of $4,049. Way to go St. Barbara Bulldogs by keeping Terry Fox’s dream alive!
On September 18, Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School held its first retreat of the school year. Over 300 Grade 9 students spent a day together in faith, friendship and fun.
