EQAO: Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)

OSSLT and After-School Literacy Sessions

  • OSSLT is an online test.  

  • Test must be completed on a board device.  Students must write the test in-person at school

  • Test was administered in the Fall 2022 and will be administered again in Spring 2023 (See link below: "Spring OSSLT 2023...")​

  • For students who wrote the OSSLT in the Fall 2022:   Student Reports are available in the Student Services Dept.  Please see your guidance counselor to access the report.  Student Reports will also be available in the main foyer for pick-up during lunch periods on Feburary 16th and 17th, 2023.

Spring 2023 OSSLT:  

March 21st to April 26th, 2023

  • Students will be assigned a date during this timeframe to write the test at school with their class/groups.
  • Students unable to write on their assigned date must notify the main office as soon as possible.
  • Additional details to be shared with students through their classroom teachers shortly.​


After School Literacy Sessions (optional):  

6 Sessions:

February 28th, March 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th

For Grade 11 and 12 Students

Grade 11 and 12 students who have NOT yet completed the literacy requirement will be contacted by their guidance counselor soon.  ​​If students wish to write the OSSLT, they must advise their guidance counselor before March 21, 2023.  Students will be then be assigned a date to write the OSSLT.  

The test will be completed in one full day in Room 216.  Students must:

  • be in full uniform
  • arrive to Room 216 before the start of Period 1
  • bring one piece of identification​

The schedule for the test is outlined below:

Periods 1 and 2:Session A
Period 3A:        Lunch
Periods 3BC and 4:Session B

Grade 11 and 12 students who must write the OSSLT, are welcome to participate in a Practice Test (optional).  The practice test will be offered on Thursday March 9th during Period 1 or 2 in the cafeteria. If you choose you do NOT choose to participate in the Practice Test, please complete the following link: Not participating in OSSLT Practice Test
