ST. JULIA HOT WEATHER PLAN
Heat Stress is the overloading of the body's cooling system. Working or playing when it is hot puts stress on your body's cooling system. When heat is combined with other stresses, such as hard physical work, loss of fluids, fatigue or some medical conditions it may lead to heat related illness.
Students are encouraged to wear light coloured clothing, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen.
St. Julia will monitor the weather through Environment Canada and follow procedures as per Board guidelines, including review hot weather procedures with staff and implementing the plan on hot weather days. St. Julia's Hot Weather Plan includes:
Monitor the local humidex
Ensuring staff monitor students for signs of heat stress
Encouraging extra water drinking breaks throughout the day, including during recesses
Modifying or having indoor recess as per board guidelines to remain indoors in air conditioning
SUPPORTING NUMERACY AND LITERACY AT HOME

KISS AND
RIDE
To maintain the safety of our Kiss
and Ride we request that parents do not open the driver side door to get out or
to let their child out. It is important that cars drive up to the beginning of
the Kiss and Ride and have their child exit from the passenger side onto the
curb of the school.
