Grade 8 YFA Launch 2nd Annual "Candies for Kids" Drive in Support of Dr. Simone's CFFC Charity.
WE WANT YOUR UNWANTED CANDY!
The grade 8 Youth Faith Ambassadors are proud to announce that we will be holding our Second Annual Candies for Kids drive in support of Dr. Simone's Canadian Food for Children Charity. This is a great opportunity to share your otherwise unwanted Halloween candy with less fortunate children around the world.
Dr. Simone's charitable organization ships the candy directly to agencies who work with children who are malnourished and often dehydrated. The sugar in the candy stimulates their appetites and saliva which is necessary for these starving children to eat again.
Donations of candy, chocolate and chips will be collected by the YFA from November 1st- 8th.
Thank you for your continued support!
Grade 8 Students Are Leaders in Faith and Justice!
On Monday, September 16th, 2019, the Grade 8 Youth Faith Ambassadors of St. Joseph Elementary school in Streetsville had the opportunity to visit Dr. Andrew Simone’s Canadian Food For Children Warehouse. During their visit, each student actively participated in a half day of volunteer and service, packing containers and organizing shipments of food and supplies headed to those less fortunate in Peru, South America. Through their involvement in this event, the students we able to personally interact with the countless volunteers who work hard each day to run the CFFC, and got a firsthand look at the valuable work this charity does for those in need. It was an inspirational experience, and one that the Youth Faith Ambassadors won’t soon forget!
SOCKTOBER is BACK at St. Joseph School!
Dear Parents and Guardians of the St. Joseph School Community,
As our next social outreach initiative, the Grade 8 Youth Faith Ambassadors of St. Joseph School are holding our second Annual SOCKTOBER drive this month. Please support this drive by donating a pair (or two!) of new, unused socks. Let's come together as a school community to help make this a warmer winter for our neighbours in need!
Did you know that new socks are the number one most requested and least donated item to homeless shelters? Those experiencing homelessness are at risk of a variety of health related issues, and these risks only increase with cold, damp weather. Having a clean, dry pair of socks is essential to keeping healthy.
This year, we have once again teamed up with Jordan's Annual Sock Drive, a local initiative run by an inspiring young lady, and we hope to make another generous contribution of socks to help her attain her 2019 goal. In 2018, St. Joe's donated over 450 pairs of new socks to Jordan's Sock Drive, a HUGE number which helped reach their total goal of over 9 000 pairs of socks! You can follow Jordan's 2019 journey on Facebook and Twitter (@JordansSocks).
At St. Joseph, We C.A.R.E! SOCKTOBER is a time to start reaching out to those in need, starting from the feet up!
Thank you for your generosity and support!
