Compassionate Care
The Compassionate Care Program at St. Joseph Secondary is lead by a team of staff members dedicated to assisting those students who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We have scheduled a number of activities throughout the school year to assist those students who are in need. Please contact Ms. Caffrey for further information at (905) 812-1376 Ext. 74187.
J.U.M.P.- Jags Understanding Multicultural Perspective
JUMP is a new club which focuses on welcoming students who are new to our school from near or far. It not only provides support to newcomers, but also leadership and mentoring opportunities. JUMP allows students to meet, make new friends, acquire new skills and gain community awareness.
For more information please contact Ms. Moser or Ms. Taddeo.
Peer Tutoring Service
Peer Tutoring has a continuous intake throughout the year both for tutors and tutees. Students who have completed a course with a final mark of 75% or above are entitled to sign up as a tutor. Our highest demand is in math , followed by the sciences. We strongly encourage students who are in need of fulfilling their volunteer hours to consider this option which is very convenient and rewarding. Tutoring is also an excellent way to gain experience by helping others and can be noted as such on your resume or post-secondary supplementary application. "Tutor forms" and "tutor request forms" are located in the Guidance Office. Any student requesting a "private tutor or institution" may pick up a list from Ms. Hoffman in room #112.
