Each year, Iona students spend a full day outside the classroom to help deepen their personal faith.
The Grade Nine students spend a day at St Christopher's Parish where they are involved in a number of activities that focus on God's love for them and their faith in God. Ideally, all the Grade Nine's go on early retreat in the Fall which helps their transition into the Iona community.
The Grade Ten students go to Dr Simone's Warehouse and help with the preparations of food and clothing donations that get shipped all over the world. Students become aware of the importance of being a light in the world and making a difference in the lives of others.
The Grade Eleven students visit places of worship throughout the Mississauga community. The goal of this experience is for the students to witness faith in action in all religious denominations. In doing so, students learn about the common thread among the major religions and they learn to embrace the similarities and respect the differences.
The Grade Twelve retreat is held at Queen of the Apostles retreat centre in Mississauga. Our facilitator, Ana Dacosta, leads the students into reflections on relationships. Through a variery of activities, the students recognize that the true treasures in life are not material possessions but rather the people they love and those who love them.
