Dufferin‐Peel Catholic District School Board
40 Matheson Boulevard West, Mississauga, ON L5R 1C5 | 905‐890‐1221
22 April 2020
Good Afternoon Grade 12 Students and Iona Catholic Secondary School families,
We hope that you and your families are safe during these unprecedented and challenging times. This letter is to communicate important information about midterm marks.
Grade 12 students will be receiving an email to their board issued email accounts indicating the midterm marks to be submitted to the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) and the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).
If a student is enrolled in an eLearning course through another school, an additional email will be sent indicating the midterm mark for the e‐course.
Students who wish to drop a course must contact their guidance counsellor by email before NOON on April 29, 2020. Full disclosure to post‐secondary institutions through OCAS and OUAC will be sent after this time. This means that any course drops after April 29, 2020, will appear on a student’s official transcript. Students are advised to check their post‐secondary institutions websites for updates regarding scholarships and admissions.
**Students who are over the age of 18 must contact their Guidance Counsellor as a first step in the process and will receive a course drop form for all parties to fill out and send back. Then the Guidance Counsellor will forward for Admin to consider.
**If a student is under the age of 18 their parents/guardians must contact the Guidance Counsellor drop process.
It is the responsibility of the student to inform their Guidance Counsellor if they are taking any courses outside of Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. (For example, with a private institution or virtual high school).
Guidance Counsellors see students by:
Alice Howell – Grade 12 students with an IEP
Patrick Orlando – Grade 12 students without an IEP
In addition, a number of students may be considering returning for a “post grad” year. You are most welcome to return to Iona Catholic Secondary School if this plan supports your pathway goals. For principal approval, please email this request to the principal Carl Cini at IonaCatholicSecondarySchoolInfo@dpcdsb.org by April 30, 2020. The subject line should read “Request for Post Grad Year.”
Together, we will face the challenges of this year to support your future.
Stay healthy and safe, and know we miss you.

Students to the Rescue - Peer Tutoring
Are you a student who is struggling in one or more of your courses and looking for some extra help and support to improve your marks?
Are you a student who is very competent in a subject area and would be willing to assist other students in your spare time to improve their academic performance, and also gain some great experience and community service hours?
Then Iona's Peer Tutoring program is for you! Student tutors will be paired with tutees and work together to improve student achievement. Tutoring will occur at school during an agreed upon schedule and times before school, at lunch or after school.
If you are interested in being tutored or volunteering as a peer tutor then see Mr. Wirkowski in the guidance office for more information. "Students to the Rescue" is ready to help.
