Summer School

 Secondary Summer School Updates

Secondary Summer School Registration Updates - We do not yet know if classes will be in person, online or a combination of both. This decision will most likely be made later in June.  Please continue to check the website for updates:

https://www.dpcdsb.org/programs-services/summer-learning/secondary-summer-school

STUDENTS BEFORE YOU FILL IN YOUR FORM AND SEND IT IN - PLEASE READ:

Avoid delay of processing of your Summer School form. Here are some important points to remember:

  • Not all courses are offered at all locations OR as an eLearn course – Have I read and checked the Summer School Flyer and eLearn Flyer to ensure I have selected the correct course at the correct location?
  • We recommend you select 2 choices. Your closest home location for the course you want should be entered in choice #1 and the second closest location in #2
  • If you failed a course and achieved 40-49%, you are eligible to do the 2 week course. Review to see where the course is offered. For example, if the course ends in a "1"=Credit Recovery 1st session July 6-July 17th, 2020. If the course ends in "2", this is the 2nd session July 20-31st,2020.
  • If you failed a course (below 40%), are upgrading or choosing to fast-track and do a new credit, you must choose a course ending in a "4", this means that it is a 4 week course.

GRADE 12 MARKS ON OUAC & OCAS (May 4th, 2020)  - NEW!!

Please check your OUAC/OCAS accounts for accuracy, as midterm marks should appear this week.

Students are responsible for reporting any discrepancies to their Guidance Counsellor by sending an email to:

HolyNameofMaryInfo@dpcdsb.org

Your counsellor will reply via myBlueprint.

Grade 12 Transmission & Night School update

A couple of reminders for our Grade 12s this week:

Course Drop - If you are in a position to drop a course, your deadline is Wednesday, April 29th by noon. This is a firm deadline! After this date, all marks will appear on your Transcript and will be submitted OUAC/OCAS. This is the directive from the School Board.

*NOTE: A course drop is NOT official until you have received a message from your counsellor through myBlueprint that it has been dropped. Please check your account for this message.

OUAC/OCAS-We will be doing a mid-term mark transmission to OUAC/OCAS this Thursday, April 30th. Please give them a few days to process the transmission, as they will be receiving transmissions from across the province. If by early next week, you do not see your marks, please let us know by emailing our general mailbox HolyNameofMaryInfo@dpcdsb.org.

Night School – Students in Night school would have received their midterm marks on April 22nd from their teacher. If you are taking a Night School course through DPCDSB, your mark will be automatically part of the upload.

NOTE: All students attending HNM will have their Night School Marks sent except for those who have dropped a course prior to the April 29th Deadline.

Please check your myBP accounts regularly for Updates and messages from Guidance.  Please ensure that you are checking your myBlueprint accounts frequently.  Any Guidance related information, questions, and/or messages we may have will be communicated to you via your myBlueprint account.

MESSAGE TO GRADE 12's

Grade 12s who have enough credits to graduate and are looking to drop a course for a spare, please do so  by April 29th, 2020  deadline,  at the latest. Please note that you must print the Course Drop Form included here, fill it out properly, have it signed by your Parent/Guardian, and then email it to your respective counsellor.    ***NOTE: This does not automatically mean your course has been dropped. Your Counsellor will review to ensure that you have enough credits to graduate. Once the course drop has been verified and completed, your counsellor will communicate that to you through your myBlueprint account.

Community Involvement
Students are required to complete 40 hours of community involvement activities as a component of  the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. These activities may be completed at any time during their secondary school years.

The community involvement requirement is designed to encourage students to develop awareness and understanding of civic responsibility.  Community service is to be completed outside of students' normal instructional hours and may begin as soon as they complete Grade 8. Students will maintain and provide a record of their community service activities using the Community Involvement Student Passport. This document is the responsibility of the student.  The dates and times of student participation must be confirmed by the organizations or supervising persons. Contact your school for the process of distribution and collection.
