    Plagiarism
  • The use of someone’s words or ideas without acknowledging the source is known as plagiarism.

  • This practice is regarded as academic theft in all educational institutions and the consequences are serious;  they may range from a mark of zero to expulsion from a college or university.

  • The FMG Style Guide is available in the library and will prove very helpful in providing models for correctly citing sources according to MLA and APA style.  Ask the library staff for your free print copy.

  • The following animated feature, created by Vaughan Memorial Library, Acadia University, is another useful resource in learning about plagiarism and how to avoid it.
