OUR SCHOOL HISTORY

Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School is an elementary school of students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.  Most of the surrounding community consists of single family homes, with some semi-detached residences, some high rise apartments and several condominiums. Our school is surrounded by the bustling City Centre and a variety of activities for all ages and interests.

Corpus Christi is committed to Catholic education as outlined in the mission statement of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.  Corpus Christi is a caring school community that stresses tolerance and acceptance of others, commitment to our Catholic faith and high academic standards.  We provide a learning environment where models of gospel values and Catholic doctrines, teachings and beliefs are an integral part of the daily life of our school.

The school motto, "The Bread of Life", was chosen through the process of community consultation and reflects a historic philosophy where religion and daily life are intertwined.

Corpus Christi School was housed at St. David of Wales School from September, 1985 until June, 1987.  In September, 1987 the doors of Corpus Christi School opened to the community.  The school blessing was held on April 21, 1988 and was officiated by Rev. John Newton.  The first principal of Corpus Christi was Mike Selley, followed by: Bill O'Grady, Sr. Marge Zdunich, Don Kellar, Maria Fata, Mark Cassar, Edward Filippozzi, Matthew Di Fiore.
