To gain entrance to the school please got to the main entrance doors on the north side of the school and press the doorbell (behind you on your left-hand side). You will be buzzed in and expected to report at the office.
REMEMBER while you are known to your child, you are a stranger to most others!
Reporting Student Absences
Whether it’s a medical appointment, an illness or other important event, there are times when students may need to be away from school. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District school board uses School Messenger's Safe Arrival system for parents to report their child(ren)’s absences. Using the SafeArrival system, parents will be able to report daily or future absences in one of three ways:

- Select Sign Up to create your account. (Only needed for the initial setup, after that you will click on login).
- Select Attendance.
- Select Report an Absence.
App:
- Download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Please note that SafeArrival uses the SchoolMessenger app.
- Select Sign-Up. (Only needed for the initial setup, after that you will click on login).
- You will be prompted to enter your email (same email address your school has on file) and create a password.
- The system will send a link to the same email address the school has on file, please click on the link you have received in your email to activate your account.
Phone:
- Call the toll-free number 1-844-435-3440

- If the system doesn’t recognize your caller ID, you will be asked to enter the student’s home phone number or any phone number for the guardian that is on file with the school.
Parent Notification of Unexplained Student Absences
Elementary Schools: If your child's absence is not reported in advance, the SafeArrival automated notification system will contact you by email / text (SMS) / phone to inform you of your child's absence and will provide an opportunity to verify the absence. By reporting your child's absence in advance on the SafeArrival SchoolMessenger mobile app, SafeArrival website (go.schoolmessenger.ca) or 1-844-435-3440 (toll-free number), you will not receive a notification.
PEANUT AWARENESS AND OTHER ALLERGENS
We have a number of children in our school who have severe life threatening allergic reactions to peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oils and any peanaut by-products. Some students are allergic to latex. Please do not send lunches or snacks that contain peanut products. Other life threatening allergens may include allergies to eggs, dairy and flour products, seame seeds and types of seafood if ingested by a student. A letter will be sent out from individual classroom teachers if there are students with allergies and to advise parents to take the necessary precautions. Your support will be appreciated.
LUNCH TIME FOR STUDENTS-LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS
The school lunch hour is 11:16am-12:16pm. When children stay for lunch, they will eat with their classmates and remain on school property throughout the lunch period. Supervision is provided by staff and a lunch supervisor. For safety reasons, students either stay for lunch or they leave for lunch everyday. Changes to this routine are done only with written permission by a parent-guardian. Students are not allowed to call home to go out for lunch. The office is very busy at this time and phones are needed for office communication and emergency phone calls. Parents accept responsibility for conduct, safety and the well being of students when they are given permission to leave school property. We thank you for continuing to support this safety routine.
It is strongly recommended that we limit the number of students leaving the school property at lunchtime, and we are suggesting that students younger than Grade 8 refrain from leaving school property at lunch and it is always preferred that students leave with a parent/guardian accompaniment.
St. Christopher
St. Christopher is one of the most popular of saints, and his intercession is petitioned by travelers, soldiers, sailors, those caught in storms, and transportation workers.
St. Christopher is known as the patron saint of safe travels. This patronage came about because of the legend of St. Christopher carrying the disguised Christ-child across a river. As a result, the name Christopher means “Christ-bearer.”
