REGIONAL ARTS PROGRAM AUDITIONS

Regional Centre For The Arts

GENERAL NOTES

All audition material for performing arts will be video recorded and submitted as attachments with your application package on this RAP Application Google Form

The Complete Audition Submission will consist of:
1. Audition Package - Filled out and signed
2. Audition Material (Google Slides or Videos)
3. Your private intorduction video - use the prompted questions to allow us the opportunity to get to know you.

INTRODUCTION VIDEO - no more than two minutes please.
SAMPLE:
Hello There Aquinas RAP Teachers, my name is ______________ and I am interested in becoming a ____________ and/or _____________ Major.

I would like to tell you a bit about myself....
Please include the following:

  • Previous experience in your chosen Arts Major(s) (i.e. lessons, clubs, productions, camps, school events, etc.)
  • What are your other interests, hobbies and other favourite subjects?
  • An explanation of why you are applying to the Regional Centre for the Arts at St. Thomas Aquinas S. S.
  • What are your educational goals and career plans for the future?
  • What being creative means to you?
  • How you best express yourself?
  • Three words that best describe you.  

DEADLINE
The deadline for submissions is January 28, 2022 - auditions can be submitted any time after December 6, 2021.

DANCE

PREPARE and VIDEO RECORD:
A one-minute solo (with the appropriate music) in any dance genre that showcases your strengths.
NOTE: Your music and dance must be appropriate for a Catholic School viewing.

DRAMA

PREPARE and VIDEO RECORD:
A Memorized version of one of the monologues from the selected monologues (click on blue link)
AND ALSO a 30 - 60 second piece of a music theatre song. (Happy Birthday or O Canada would be acceptable as well if you are more confident with that.)
NOTE: Your comprehensive drama training does include an element of vocal training to develop the all round actor/actress.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

PREPARE and VIDEO RECORD:
Two contrasting pieces of at least 45 seconds.
(Examples of contrasting could be: different speeds, different styles, one involving written music; one involving chord symbols, tabs, by ear, etc.)
A student is welcome to play more than one instrument if desired.
It is not necessary to play any piece to the end.

AUDITION:
Students are to perform their pieces on their own instruments.

VOCAL MUSIC

PREPARE and VIDEO RECORD:
Two contrasting pieces of at leaset 45 seconds.
(Examples of contrasting could be: different speeds, different styles or different languages.) One of the two pieces should be "A Capella" (without piano or music accompaniment).

VISUAL ARTS

PREPARE A DIGITAL PORTFOLIO using Google Slides.
Your Introductory Video should be the first slide.

Subsequent Slides should contain elements of your portfolio. Each slide should contain two pieces of artwork. Next to each slide please include the material you used and the size of the artwork. Type your first and last name at the top of each slide.

Your portfolio should contain 8-10 pieces that can include: watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, pencil drawings, pencil crayon drawings, photography, collage, sculpture of any material, jewelry that you made, anything creative!
