We are an ELECTRONIC WASTE AND BATTERY COLLECTION DEPOT.

Electronic Stewardship (OES) is a not-for-profit industry organization that oversees the responsible reuse and recycling of end-of-life electronics through a program that includes hundreds of OES-approved collection sites and numerous other affiliate sites across the province.  St. Andrew is an approved site.  Electronics can be dropped off at the school during school hours.

BATTERY COLLECTION CHALLENGE

GET INVOLVED

MAKE A

DIFFERENCE

St. Andrew School Eco Team encourages students to bring an environmentally friendly - The Boomerang Lunch.

A Boomerang Lunch means that any uneaten food and any waste material produced is returned home and is not added to the school's waste collection.

It is important that this food and waste packaging be taken home in a re-sealable container or bag so that lunch bags/backpacks remain clean.

A Boomerang Lunch is also known as a waste free lunch.  It is a lunch that contains no throwaway packaging and produces no food waste.  Food and drinks are packed in reusable (often insulated) lunch bag.  All containers are re-sealable, so that leftover food and drink can be saved for later.

Some Waste-Free Lunch Tips

  1. Instead of expensive plastic sandwich bags, one reusable container can be used for packing snacks, sandwiches, etc. No more squished food!

  • Cut fruit and vegetables into pieces so that some can be eaten at lunch and the rest saved for a later snack.

  • Prepare extra food at dinnertime and use the leftovers for lunches.

  • Label all containers to ensure that they return home if lost.

  • Minimize the morning rush (when you'll reach for convenience, over-packaged items) and pack lunches the night before and refrigerate overnight.

  • Avoid drinks in packaging that cannot be resealed. After a few sips, drinks are often discard

Thank you for your participation and support.  So please bring a waste free lunch every day.

Thank you,

Eco Team Members

You can now recycle your batteries at St. Andrew.  Drop them off in the main office.
