Misson Statement:

Our Lady of Good Voyage is a community of learners where parents, teachers and students demonstrate respect for the dignity of each other. We encourage the growth of individual learners to reach their full potential. We will strive to promote an environment that fosters our children's development in Catholic values, social skills, physical health and life long learning. As a community dedicated to the service and compassion, we are rooted in the teachings and love of Christ.

 

Severe Allergies:

We have several students who face the challenge of life-threatening allergies to nuts, tree nuts, fish, shell fish etc. Individual classes will be receiving letters detailing the procedures we need to follow to provide a safe enviroment for all of our students. The co-operation of all families is very much appreciated.

Kindergarten Registration Information:

Parents/Guardians will be asked to present the following documents when registering their child:

a)  Birth Certificate for the child;
b)  Original Catholic Baptismal Certificate of the Roman Catholic, Greek  or Ukrainian Rite for both the parent and the child;
c)  Updated immunization records;
d)  Child's Ontario Health Card Number
e)  Proof of Canadian Citizenship or of Landed Immigrant status.
f)  Proof of Address.

2018-19 Kindergarten Registration

This year, parents/guardians have the option to register online or in-person at their designated Catholic school. Online registration will begin on January 8, 2018 at www.dpcdsb.org. The Online Registration Form should be completed prior to in-person school meetings where documentation will be received on January 15* from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and January 17-19 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. *A snow date has been designated on January 16 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. If parents/guardians wish to register in-person, they may do so during these specified dates and times.


School Hours:  8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Attendance:

Absences  - Please telephone the school and inform us of your child(ren)'s absence at the number below.  Our answering service is available 24 hours a day, and messages are regularly picked up between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m..  When leaving a message please provide your child(ren)'s name(s), grade(s) and the name of their teacher(s) and the date of your child(ren)'s return to school.

Lateness - Students, who are late, must first report to the office and receive a "Late Slip" before proceeding to class.  This applies in the morning, and, should the student leave the school, at Lunch.  If you know your child(ren) will be late, you may leave a message by calling  905-567-8422

 

Immunization Information

Is your child’s immunization record up to date?
You may be receiving a letter from Peel Public Health to update your child’s immunization
record. It is important that you respond to this letter by calling or faxing Peel Public Health to
provide your child’s immunization information.
The annual screening, which is required by law, ensures children are protected from a number of
vaccine preventable disease. All Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board students missing
mandatory immunizations (i.e., Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps and Rubella) on
their records will need to update their records, or provide a valid exemption, to avoid suspension.
You don’t need to wait to get the letter to update your child’s records. You can report every time
your child receives an immunization.
Many parents believe their child’s vaccines are reported by their doctor, school or child-care
facility but in fact, parent’s are responsible for reporting their child’s vaccines. Schools and childcare
facilities only forward immunization records to Peel Public Health at the time of initial
registration.
Similarly, vaccines are not reported between health units. This means, if your child changes to a
school in a new region, you need to contact the local health unit of the new school to report your
child’s immunizations.
