St. Franics of Assisi Catholic School, located in South Mississauga at 2480 ThornLodge Drive, opened in 1967 and was blessed on June 16, 1968. The approximately 525 students reflect the diverse population of south Mississauga.
St. Francis of Assisi is one of the most renowned saints. After receiving a message from Christ calling him to a new life, St. Francis formally renounced his wealth and began helping the sick, preaching in the streets, and wecoming and assisting the poor. He had many followers and founded the first Franciscan order, the Friars Minor, in 1209.
The school is extremely fortunate to be located directly across the road from St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Classes are able to attend morning weekday Masses. The Youth Faith Ambassadors model faith and leadership through their social justice iniatives.
The St. Francis of Assisi school community is very pleased that the pastor and seminarian team attend school events including School Council meetings, the grade 8 retreats, monthly Virtues assemblies, staff liturgies, school assemblies, open house and other school activities.
